Our story

At GameTime, our mission is simple: to get all kids moving, having fun and building confidence through sport.

GameTime began with a clear vision to create a fun, inclusive environment where every child, no matter the background or ability, could enjoy being active. What started as a few preschool classes quickly grew into something much bigger. I saw firsthand the the impact the that movement, plan and positive coaching can have, not just on physical skills, but on confidence, teamwork, listing, and social development.

Since the early days, GameTime has expanded beyond preschool. GameTime now run classes in primary school, community classes and holiday programs. We also have delivered classes for BLENNZ (Blind and Low Vision Education Network New Zealand). Whether its a preschooler taking their first kick or a primary school student learning teamwork through sport, every GameTime classes is built around fun, imagination and skill-building.

GameTime has also worked alongside preschool and other organisations to deliver professional development, helping educators build their confidence and understanding of how to support children through sport and movement based learning

At GameTime, we are proud to be part of so many children's learning journeys, helping them grow stronger, more coordinated and confidence through play

Meet Coach Mattie

Sports Psychologist, PH.D.

Kia Ora, I’m Mattie, the founder and head coach at GameTime.

I’ve been coaching kids in all sorts of sports for over 10 years now. I’ve played everything from rugby and football to handball, futsal, cricket, and softball but basketball has always been my main sport. In 2016, I was lucky enough to play for the Wellington Saints!

I grew up in Wellington, went to St Pat’s Town, and spent some time travelling overseas to a few different places. I started GameTime because I wanted to help build a love of sport from a young age. These days, so many little ones are more interested in screens, and I wanted to create something fun that gets them moving, builds their confidence, and helps them feel good about how their bodies work.

In my spare time, I'm playing sports or with family and friends.
